The Institute of Advanced Research in Artificial Intelligence (IARAI) and the Clinical Bioinformatics Area (CBRA) at the Andalusian Public Progress and Health Foundation (Fundación Pública Andaluza Progreso y Salud, FPS) are excited to announce their strategic research collaboration.
The collaboration between IARAI and CBRA- FPS focuses on the generation of highly realistic synthetic electronic patient health records using advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods. These synthetic records and hidden pattern in these will allow studies relevant to the disease of real patients without exposing individual patient records.
For first applications, CBRA has identified a series of focus diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and recently SARS-CoV-2. With the expertise of IARAI, appropriate AI models will be trained and validated for the generation of synthetic patient profiles that maintain hidden disease relevant patterns while removing personally identifiable information. This way, we can bring together privacy preserving large-scale real-world health-care data and the best research teams worldwide, also outside of individual health systems.
The novel collaboration thus lays the foundation for much accelerating the development of personalized precision medicine.
