Auto Driving and Google Map

Hello,

I just became a member because I am very interested in auto driving in the future.

And I am curious about the recent development and news regarding Google and a map company in Japan called “Zenrin”.

Zenrin in Japan and “Here” in Europe are always believed that they will be the core source for auto driving and even for auto-drone service as precise maps are the essential technology for the new technology.  However, in March 2019, Google annouced to work less with Zenrin in Japan for thier Google Map service and they intend to improve their map quality. (Google Map used the Map from Zenrin)

All the automakers and chipmakers like Nvidia worked with Zenrin as their map in Japan has the best quality.

What do you think if Google Map will replace the strong position of Zenrin and Here in the future?

Is the same thing happening in Europe?

 

Google of course has an intention to offer their Google Map for Auto Driving in the future and for their subsidiary Waymo.

I really appreciate your opinion and any informaiton!
